From its creation in 1881, the London Chamber
of Commerce recognised the need for improved commercial
and technical secondary education alongside advanced
foreign language courses. The Commercial Education
Committee of the London Chamber of Commerce was
appointed in 1887, and the first LCCI examinations
were held later that same year.
LCCI held its first overseas exams in Bombay in
1898 and there are now more than 5,000 LCCI centres
in over 100 countries. Over its long history,
LCCI qualifications have become hallmarks of work-related
performance and solid academic foundation for
employers and educationists alike.
In December 2002, following a merger with GOAL
plc (Global Online Assessment for Learning), LCCI
became part of Education Development International
plc (EDI), a leading provider of vocational qualifications
and online assessment solutions.
In Asia, LCCI centres and students are well served
by its offices in major cities such as Singapore,
Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Shanghai and
many other Asian countries. LCCI qualifications
can be studied at over 1,000 centres in Asia and
students may choose to study a diversed range
of subjects from Accounting to Management, Marketing
to Business Administration, and Business English
to Customer Service.
