GEB and LCCI Asia offer English Assessment for Employment Prospect
In 2008, the Guangzhou Education Bureau (GEB) established an English assessment system in collaboration with London Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Qualifications (LCCIIQs) to provide graduates with added value and to help boost their employment prospects.
Around 1, 300 candidates took the first Business English exam in 2009 and achieved a commendable pass rate, which is higher than international average. The LCCI project proves that professional qualifications help to stimulate teaching and learning, increase students’ capability, improve the assessment system, and contribute to the growth of industry-focused talents.
Mr. Shen Ziming, Dean of Vocational and Adult Education Sector of Guangzhou Education Bureau, observed that the project would encourage Guangzhou to play a leading role and enhance its reputation as the vocational education base for South China. The close collaboration with LCCIIQ is a successful example of the kind of strategy required to build Guangzhou into a vocational education hub.
